Monday, July 12th - Thursday, July 15th
Application Deadline: June 30th
Students (age 15 - 18) will learn how to code and create experimental drawings while learning the fundamentals of computer programming. We will look at contemporary artists practicing in the fields of experimental drawing, creative coding and interactive art. We will use the free and open-source software called Processing. This compiler allows students to visualize graphically coding concepts and apply them to interactive art works and creative software.
Eric Souther is a new media artist who draws from a multiplicity of disciplines, including anthropology, linguistics, ritual, critical theory, and New Materialism. He develops video instruments that investigate technological & cultural ecologies, agency, and emergence. He looks for new ways of seeing beyond the seductive qualities of an image, and to find unseen connections that help us understand our digital and non-digital existence. His work takes many pathways, which include single-channel video, interactive installation, projection mapping, print, virtual reality, and audiovisual performance.
You will attend classes and discussions via an online, virtual platform. Further information, including a detailed program schedule and online platform details, will be sent upon acceptance.
The cost is $100. A $50 deposit is required.
