Mural Art Day Camp
Mural Art Day Camp - July 16-20, 2018 - for youth ages 7-14
"Imagination at-Large" - Summer Mural Art Day Camp is our new Mural Art Day Camp where students will work together on the completion of a mural by the end of the week. This camp is for youth ages 7-14 and runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM until 4:30 PM.
A mural is any piece of large scale artwork, painted or applied directly on a large surface. The styles can vary from abstract to Trompe L'Oeil (a French term for "fool" or "trick the eye"). At Mural Art Camp we will be introducing the steps of artistic exploration, team work and decision making as together they are walked through this creative process called Mural Art.
From brainstorming to final composition, young artists will be partaking in creative sessions of focus, goal setting, decision making and self-expression. All of which have been directly linked to empowering youth with self-esteem, self-awareness and stress relief in a safe, social and fun environment!
Art is a wonderful social opportunity. It offers anyone a creative avenue to express themselves and their emotions constructively, initiating a sense of pride and accomplishment. Mural Art Camp adds to all this by literally offering a glimpse of the "bigger picture!" By the end of Mural camp week they will have experienced being part of a community collaboration by structuring their thoughts creatively, having new avenues of self-empowerment and self-awareness! As well, they will enjoy the fruits of their creativity LARGE SCALE!
The camp will be held in "The Brick" BAFA Studio on the Alfred University campus. The camp fee is $300. There is a discount of $20 for siblings attending; please contact the Office of Summer Programs (607.871.2612) for details.
Camp sessions run Monday through Friday, 9 AM - 4:30 PM. Campers must be dropped off each day no later than 9 AM and picked up by 4:30 PM. No supervision can be guaranteed prior to or after that time block.
Campers are asked to bring a bagged lunch and snacks clearly marked with their name. In addition to lunch, there will be a mid-morning and afternoon break times to "refuel."
