Arts Student Announcements and Public Events in the School of Art & Design + Performing Arts Division for the week of November 13-19, 2023. All events are free and open to the public.

Opportunities this week include: Last day to sign up for the End of semester pop-up sale, upcoming deadlines to apply for spring 2024 ARGUS funds, Auditions for the Spring play, and Internships in the IEA, Alfred Ceramic Art Museum, and the Art Makers Apprentice Program

Holiday Hours over the Thanksgiving Break: no students, faculty or staff should enter the buildings at any time. from Wednesday November 23 through Sunday November 27.

Robert C Turner Gallery Exhibition

"Is This Real or a Dream?", an exhibition by Audrey Buddendeck in the Turner Gallery Catwalk. Reception: Thursday, November 16 from 6-8pm. The show will be open from November 16- November 30th. The Robert C. Turner Gallery is a professional gallery space at Alfred University that is run and organized by students and features student exhibitions during the Fall and Spring semesters. In keeping with the educational goals of the School of Art and Design, the Robert C. Turner Gallery seeks to provide a forum for current, innovative and relevant ideas in art; to facilitate non-curricular as well as curricular learning; to establish local, regional, and global connections; and to maintain a student run professional gallery space driven by creative and conceptual freedom.

Alfred University Music Department Orchestra Concert

The Alfred University Performing Arts Division and Music Department and the AU Symphony Orchestra present a Fall 2023 Concert featuring soloist Monica Nowik. The concert is Nov 17 at 7:30pm in the Miller Theater. This is a free event and no tickets are required.

Sara Badeau Senior Music Recital

Union University Church

The Alfred University Performing Arts Division and Music Department are proud to present Soprano Sara Badeau's Senior Music Recital, with piano accompanist Laurel Buckwalter. This free recital will feature songs chosen by Sara and starts at 4pm in the Union University Church of Alfred. Immediately following the recital there will be a reception that all are invited to attend.

Free Dimensional: Faculty from the Sculpture and Dimensional Studies Division

Ceramic Alumni Invitational

Cohen Gallery

Five accomplished alumni potters from the School of Art and Design, Rebecca Chappell (MFA 08), Sanam Emami (MFA 02), Ryan Greenheck (MFA 04), Alleghany Meadows (MFA 99), and Kyla Toomey (BFA 04), will be showing and selling their pottery at the Cohen Gallery. The show and pottery sale will open with a reception on Thursday, October 19, 5-8pm and run through December 3.
