N’Kosi Barber, left, who visited the Alfred University campus this week as part of the School of Art and Design’s Black Glass Artist Series, works to craft a piece of glass art with student Adeye Jean-Baptist in the hot glass shop in Harder Hall. Adeye proposed the Black Glass Artist Series and organized support to make it a reality. Each week in February, visiting artists will lead workshops and give public talks about their work.

VanDette, professor of English at SUNY Fredonia, on the work of Alfred University alumna Elizabeth C. Wright, the first woman in the United States to publish a book-length treatise on nature, Lichen Tufts: From the Alleghenies.

The Weekly Wednesday Artists' Speaker Series at Alfred University continues on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m. in Holmes Theater, Harder Hall, with a lecture by Roberto Visani, a Brooklyn, NY-based multi-media artist whose work has been exhibited throughout the United States and abroad.

Alfred University’s Miller Theater is hosting the 2019 Prague Quadrennial USA Exhibition, a collection of some of the finest artistic achievement presented in the United States between 2015 and 2019. The exhibit appears in the Miller Theater Scenography Gallery, located on the first floor of the Miller Theater.
