Alfred University "Reunion Bikers" announce plans for their 2022 ride

The Alfred University “reunion bikers”, a group of alumni who spend the week preceding Reunion Weekend bicycling to Alfred, have announced initial plans for their return trip to campus this year.


Alfred University Black Glass Artist Series: Episode 1 of video log now available

The inaugural Black Glass Artist Series welcomes three glass artists of color to the Alfred University campus for one-week residencies during the month of February, which is celebrated as Black History Month. The visiting artists present artist talks and give demonstrations of their practice in the Alfred University School of Art and Design’s Hot Glass Shop.


Sculpture Professor Coral Lambert Receives ISC's 2022 Outstanding Educator Award

Alfred University Professor of Sculpture Coral Lambert has been awarded the 2022 Outstanding Educator Award of the International Sculpture Center (ISC), based in Hamilton, NJ.


Alfred University Performing Arts Division to present ‘An Evening of Dance’

The Division of Performing Arts at Alfred University will present “An Evening of Dance” on Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 17, 18, and 19, in Miller Theater. The performances, which will be presented at 8 p.m. each evening, will feature live performances with integrated mixed media.


Alfred University alumnus John Mauro elected to National Academy of Engineers

Alfred University alumnus John Mauro ’01, Ph.D. ’06, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). The Academy announced its 2022 class on Wednesday, Feb. 9, and Mauro, professor of materials science and engineering at Penn State University, is one of 111 new members (along with 22 international members) chosen.


Bergren Forum to feature talk on recent trip to Germany

The Feb. 17 Bergren Forum, “Alfred Students in Germany (Travel in Covid Times),” will be presented by Mark Lewis, Dean of Alfred University’s School of Business; Andrew Kless, Assistant Professor of History and Global Studies, and Alfred University students who accompanied Lewis and Kless on a recent trip to Germany.


Team of students taught by Alfred University alumnus develop experiment headed to International Space Station

A team of students from Wellsville Central High School in Wellsville, NY, taught by Alfred University alumnus Ross Munson ’06, MSEd ’08 has been chosen to participate in a program in which scientific experiments are conducted on the International Space Station.


2022 Alfred Art Walk: Start Walking!

The 2022 Alfred Art Walk series begins Thursday, Feb. 17, from 5 to 8 pm, and will continue with Alfred-area art exhibitions on the third Thursday of every month.


International Randall Chairs in Ceramic Art to present in Wednesday Artists’ Speaker Series

The Weekly Wednesday Artists’ Speaker Series at Alfred University continues on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. in Holmes Theater, Harder Hall, with a lecture by Liet Heringa and Maarten Van Kalsbeek, who are serving this semester as International Randall Chairs of Ceramic Art.


"Signals of Agency" Exhibition at the Fosdick-Nelson Gallery

Alfred University’s Fosdick-Nelson Gallery, located in Harder Hall, will open the exhibition Signals of Agency, on Friday, Feb. 18. The exhibition is curated by Eric Souther and features artwork by Jason Bernagozzi, Sabrina Ratte, Benjamin Rosenthal and Marcos Serafim.


Softball team 25th in preseason national rankings

The Alfred University softball team is ranked 25th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) 2022 preseason poll.


Saxons’ Marshall named E8 men’s basketball Co-Player of the Week

Brewster Marshall, senior forward on the Alfred University men's basketball team, was named one of the two Empire 8 Co-Players of the Week.


10 Saxon teams, 93 student athletes earn Empire 8 academic honors

Ten teams from Alfred University and 93 student-athletes have earned academic accolades from the Empire 8 for their efforts in the classroom during the Fall 2021 semester.
