Cedric Mitchell, a Los Angeles-based artist, creates a piece of glass art in the hot glass shop in Harder Hall. Mitchell was the third and final visiting artist in the School of Art and Design’s Black Glass Artist Series. The series brought glass artists of color to Alfred University for one-week residencies in which they gave artist talks and glass art demonstrations. The series culminates with an exhibition of the artists’ work, opening Friday, Feb. 25.

Retired history professor Gary Ostrower ’61 pens essay on professor with Nazi past

Gary Ostrower ’61, who recently retired after a 52-year career as a professor of history at Alfred University, recently wrote an essay on Edward Sittler, An Ohioan who renounced his American citizenship to join Germany’s Nazi Party during World War II and would later serve on the Alfred University faculty.

Junior guard Ana Ion of the Alfred University women's basketball team earned All-Empire 8 Third Team honors. Sophomore guard Karly Welty was honored as Alfred's selection for Women's Basketball Sportswoman of the Year.

Marshall, Bowen earn All-Empire 8 men's basketball accolades

Senior forward Brewster Marshall of the Alfred University men's basketball team was named an Empire 8 Second Team All Star, while junior forward Elliot Bowen was recognized as the Saxons’ selection for the E8 Sportsman of the Year.
