A group of students rake an area along Woughter Way, behind Powell Campus Center, during Friday’s campus clean-up, held in celebration of Earth Day. More than 100 students, staff, and faculty participated in what will be an annual event. Following the campus-wide clean-up, volunteers were treated to a barbecue picnic in the lawn between the campus center and Herrick Library.

More than 100 Alfred University students, staff and faculty members volunteered today with rakes, gloves, and over-sized trash bags for the University’s first campus-wide clean-up, an event intended to become an annual and local celebration of Earth Day.

Everything smelled wonderful. Alfred University students enrolled in Business 106 – Contemporary Business, or colloquially “Busi106” – were cooking and serving mouth-watering dishes with a strong dash of ethnic flavorings: Polish perogies and Tanzanian Wali-Nyama Rosti, to name two. The fine dining was part of a pop-up business project called Alfred’s Flamingo Restaurant, designed by Business 106 students in Alfred University’s College of Business.

Voss and other 2022 award winners will be recognized by SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras at a ceremony held Tuesday, April 26, at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, NY.
