Alfred University Board of Trustees approves moving forward on ‘Saxon Hill’ sports complex

Alfred University this week announced ambitious plans to develop a new sports complex atop Jericho Hill in the Town of Alfred. The “Saxon Hill” project, estimated to cost $18-20 million, will increase the University’s intercollegiate athletic offerings, boost student recruitment and retention efforts, and significantly increase enrollment.

Carolyn S. Clark ’90 installed as first-ever woman Board of Trustee chair at Alfred University

Alfred University alumna Carolyn S. Clark ’90 made history when she became chair of her alma mater’s Board of Trustees, effective July 1. Clark, who had served as vice chair from 2017-22, is the first ever female in the University’s 186-year history to lead its Board of Trustees.

Alfred University students compete at ACerS conference; LaCourse honored

Three students won awards in competitions held at the Glass and Optical Materials Conference hosted by American Ceramic Society (ACerS) May 22-27 in Baltimore. During the conference, William LaCourse, retired professor of glass science at Alfred University, was presented with the L. David Pye Lifetime Achievement Award.

Second Light Matter Festival to open in fall, now accepting submissions

Alfred University’s School of Art and Design this fall will host the second Light Matter Festival, inaugurated in 2021 and dedicated to gathering works of experimental film, video art, and the media arts.
