Alumni partner in production of documentary on youth suicides at Montana reservation

Alfred University alumnus Trent Cooper ’93, in partnership with fellow Alfred University graduate Kristen Klabin ’92, have produced an award-winning documentary film chronicling an epidemic of suicide of Native American youth at the Flathead Reservation in northwest Montana.

Alfred University set to host Glass Sustainability Conference

Alfred University’s Inamori School of Engineering places a special emphasis on pursuing initiatives aimed at protecting the environment, offering a bachelor’s degree in renewable energy engineering, and pursuing numerous research programs promoting sustainability. Next week, representatives in academics, science and research, and business will be welcomed to the Alfred University campus to participate in the Glass Sustainability Conference.


William LaCourse, retired glass science professor, to deliver Alfred University’s Scholes Lecture

William LaCourse, retired professor of glass science, will deliver the annual Scholes Lecture at Alfred University on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 11:20 a.m. in Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center.


Kazuo Inamori, Alfred University School of Engineering benefactor, passes away

Japanese entrepreneur Kazuo Inamori, for whom the Alfred University Inamori School of Engineering is named, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, at his home in Kyoto, Japan. He was 90 years old.


Alfred University to host glass instrument concert by noted musician Dennis James

Alfred University will host a concert by Dennis James, a musician who will play all-glass instruments, the Franklin Armonica and Cristal Bischet, on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Miller Theater.

Alfred University to sponsor Urban Bush Women Dance Company performances

Alfred University, Division of Performing Arts, Department of Dance is partnering with SUNY Brockport to sponsor performances by the Urban Bush Women Dance Company on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16 and 17, at Harwell Dance Theater at Suny Brockport.


First-year MFA presentations

Alfred University will introduce first-year Master of Fine Arts graduate students at an event scheduled for Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m. at Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center.
