Gift to Alfred University establishes Student Media Lab

Thanks to the philanthropic investment from Alfred University alumnus Dr. Anthony Russo ’74, and his partner, Brad Prunty, renovations have been made to the space in Powell Campus Center that houses facilities used by student media clubs and organizations.

Alfred University to host free drawing for EnChroma glasses for color blindness

In observance of September as Color Blindness Awareness Month, Alfred University will be giving away two pairs of EnChroma glasses designed to help people with color blindness. EnChroma, the Berkeley, CA company co-founded by Alfred University alumnus Don McPherson ’84 M.S., ’88 PhD, donated the glasses to the University.

Fosdick-Nelson Gallery presents Luftwerk

Alfred University’s Fosdick-Nelson Gallery will host a reception for the exhibition Frequency / Chronology by Luftwerk from 6 to 8 pm Friday, Sept. 9. The exhibition will run through October 9.

Bergren Forum returns to in-person format

The Bergren Forum, sponsored by the Division of Human Studies and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has returned to its traditional in-person format, meeting from 12:10 to 1 p.m. on Thursdays.

Upcoming Exhibitions and Opportunities at the Turner Gallery

The Robert C. Turner Gallery in Harder Hall's McGee Pavilion launches the fall semester exhibition series with two exhibitions opening on Sept. 9. "Ground Play:2022 Summer Intern Showcase" opens on the main floor, while on the catwalk, "Invasive", features an exhibition of work by senior Ellie Gamble.

Maureen Weiss presents September 15 Bergren Forum

Maureen Weiss, associate professor of performance design and technology in Alfred University’s Performing Arts Division, presents the Sept. 15 Bergren Forum titled "SCENE SHIFT / redefining artistic pathways" with collaborator Sibyl Wickersheimer. Weiss and Wickersheimer will discuss their book, "Scene Shift: U.S. Set Design in Conversation."

Book launch reception for Scenographer Maureen Weiss of Alfred University Performing Arts

Maureen Weiss, associate professor of performance design and technology in Alfred University’s Performing Arts Division, conceived, curated and edited "Scene Shift," which was published in August by Focal Press. A reception and book signing with co-editor Sibyl Wickersheimer will be held on September 15 in the Sceneography Gallery in the Miller Performing Arts Center.

Weekly Wednesday Artist Speaker Series

The School of Art & Design + Performing Arts Division kicks off the fall Weekly Wednesday Artist Speaker Series with a lecture by the Artist duo Luftwerk. The lecture series takes please every Wednesday, throughout the fall semester at 7 p.m. in Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center.
