Alastair Cormack named editor-in-chief of Society of Glass Technology journals

Alastair Cormack, Van Derck Fréchette Professor of Ceramic Science and Founding Dean of the Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University, has been appointed editor-in-chief of two journals published by the Society of Glass Technology.


Auction supporting Black Glass Artist Series is Thursday, Oct. 20

An auction to raise funding in support of Alfred University’s Black Glass Artist Series will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, beginning at 5 p.m., in the Turner Gallery, Harder Hall.


Dog Eat Dog World: Bergren Forum to review therapy dog issues

Alfred University’s Bergren Forum goes to the dogs next week, Oct. 27, when Professor English Susan Morehouse and Professor of School Psychology Lynn O’Connell discuss the role of therapy dogs on college campuses. Morehouse and O’Connell will accompanied by their own dogs, Jam and Blue.


Alfred University awarded for financial management

Alfred University has been recognized for excellence in management of its finances. Giovina Lloyd, vice president of Business and Finance and chief financial officer, recently received notification from financial services firm three+one that the University is recipient of the firm’s prestigious 90+cashVest Award for 2022.


Alfred University alumnus will present in Environmental Speakers Series

Alfred University alumnus Andy Hoak ’93, a licensed professional engineer and geologist, will present at next week’s Environmental Studies Speakers Series.


This Week in the Arts, Oct. 22-28

Several on-campus, public Arts events in the School of Art and Design/Performing Arts Division are scheduled for the week of October 22-28. All events are free and open to the public.


Alfred Art Walk set for October 20

The Alfred Art Walk returns on Thursday, October 20 from 5-8 p.m.. The Art Walk features a large number of events and is free and open to the public.


Division of Ceramic Art at Alfred exhibition opens Oct. 20

An exhibition of ceramic art by faculty, staff and technical specialists in Alfred University’s School of Art and Design opens Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Fosdick-Nelson Gallery in Harder Hall.

Alfred University’s Ivy Vallely, has been named Empire 8 women’s swimming and diving Athlete of the Week.


Empire 8 names Saxons’ Barnard-Pratt women’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Kian Barnard-Pratt of the Alfred University women’s soccer team earned weekly recognition from the Empire 8 Conference.
