Torch for World University Winter Games carried through Alfred University campus

The cold and rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of five students jogging along Pine Street on the Alfred University campus, passing an LED-lit torch to each other as they made their way toward Harder Hall. The five were part of the torch relay run that was held Wednesday morning ahead of the FISU 2023 World University Winter Games, set to open Jan. 12 in Lake Placid.


Softball contest between Saxon women's softball team and faculty/staff nets toys for annual toy drive

Members of Alfred University’s faculty, staff and student communities faced off against each other recently on the softball diamond, contributing their athletic prowess to the University’s annual toy drive organized by the College of Business.

Alfred University alumna Kara Mackey ’88, co-founder of Barrelhouse 6 Distillery, in Hammondsport, NY, recently was featured on Discovery Channel’s “Moonshiners-Master Distiller” series, competing against two other artisanal distillers in making batches of savory spirits.

Craft in America, the Peabody Award-winning and Emmy-nominated documentary series on PBS, featured Ayoumi Horie ’96 on a recent episode of INSPIRATION.
