Alfred University receives donation of power electronics simulation software A global leader in simulation programming for complex power electronics systems is donating software to Alfred University, which engineering students will use to model electrical circuits, power converters, and control systems before building them physically.

“Call me Ishmael” kicks off 24-hour Moby Dick marathon in Herrick Library Friday afternoon, Nov. 14, a group of Alfred University students, faculty and staff began what is likely the most ambitious public reading in the university’s history: Herman Melville’s epic novel Moby Dick.

Alfred University student presents cutting-edge networking research at international conference This fall, Alfred University sophomore Dagim Mindaye, an international student from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, represented the university at the FABRIC KNIT workshop, presenting original research on programmable networks and data plane security. His participation marks a major milestone, not only for his personal academic journey but also for Alfred’s growing commitment to undergraduate research and innovation in computer science.

Alfred University alumni take part in panel discussion on careers in healthcare A recent Alfred University-hosted panel discussion of career opportunities in the healthcare industry featured three alumni, each accomplished healthcare professionals. The second Feinstein and Friedman Panel on Careers in Healthcare was offered on Friday, Nov. 7.

Sculpture students view exhibitions, visit art museums in New York City Alfred University students in the Introduction to Sculpture class taught by Bianca Boragi, visiting assistant professor of sculpture in the School of Art and Design, went on a trip to New York City the weekend of Nov. 14-16. The students visited a number of public art exhibitions, art museums and galleries, and heard an artist talk.
