Join the Alfred University’s Performing Arts Division Feb 19 and 20 for a mixed-media dance exhibition featuring live and video performances that meander throughout the Miller Performing Arts Center.
Mapping 2021: An Exhibition of Dance integrates two works that will be performed live and five video dance works that are placed strategically around the Miller Performing Arts Center and bring the viewer a unique, socially distanced dance experienced.
This year’s choreography features the 2020-2021 Marlin Miller guest artist Marianela Boán, as well as choreographic work by Alfred University students Kayleah Aldrich, Mia Bagnall, Susanna Barger, Alison Gonzalez, Rajaéana Stanley, and Sarah Turner.
Boán writes: "The magic is about creating a play via zoom from my home in Santo Domingo for these students surrounded by snow in New York. Seven days of intense experiment and enjoyment. Thank you Chase Angier, the staff and students at Alfred University!"
Mapping highlights the collaborative nature of the performing arts. Attendees will experience the many skilled roles Alfred University students take on in the process, including choreographer, dancer, costume designer, costume builder, lighting designer, and videographer. T
Mapping 2021: An Exhibition of Dance is made possible by the generous support of the Marlin Miller Dance Residency Program, and the School of Art and Design + Performing Arts Division. Performances will be held at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm Friday, Feb. 19; and 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm Saturday, Feb. 20.

Each showing is limited seating, so please sign up for your time slot and arrive promptly, but not too early. Due to COVID 19 safety protocols, this event is only open to the Alfred University community.
