Merve Caydere Dobai, set designer for Del Toro's 'Pinocchip', to speak to students

Animation director, designer, and model maker Merve Caydere Dobai will speak to Alfred University students on March 15 at 3:20 pm about her journey from theatre design to stop-motion animation and discuss her work as set designer of the upcoming Guillermo Del Toro movie, Pinocchio.
Animation director, designer, and model maker Merve Caydere Dobai will speak to Alfred University students on March 15 at 3:20 pm about her journey from theatre design to stop-motion animation and discuss her work as set designer of the upcoming Guillermo Del Toro movie, Pinocchio.
Born in Ankara, Turkey, Dobai is a graduate of California State University with an MFA in Theatre Arts, Set Design. Her background includes architecture, theatre, film, miniature effects, and fabrication for both animated and live-action productions. She currently specializes in animation.
Del Toro’s Pinocchio is one of several recent productions based on the 19th century novel Pinocchio, by the Italian writer Carlo Callodi. Not to be confused with the 1940 animated production by Walt Disney Studios!
