Students snap up school supplies at CAS giveaway

It took only 30 minutes last week for Alfred University’s Center for Academic Success to give away the contents of two tables full of school supplies. The School Supply Giveaway program was conceived by CAS in response to economic hardships students are experiencing in the midst of the current COVID 19 pandemic.

While giveaway items included games and candy to help students navigate long, dark winter nights in western New York, CAS academic consultants also were on hand, distributing planners and helping students make laminated schedules that could be used with dry erase markers. The grand prize at the event, held Jan. 28, was a tote filled with college survival essential; additional items included Alfred University merchandise, a noise-cancelling headset, playing cards and … more candy!
