Two scholarly articles by Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy Mojca Kuplen have been published in the journals Debates in Aesthetics and The British Journal of Aesthetics.
Kuplen’s article Reflective and Non-reflective Aesthetics in Kant’s Theory of Art, published in BJA, attempts to resolve tensions in Kant’s analysis of aesthetic ideas embodied, or expressed, through music. Her second article, Kant’s Theory of Laughter, published in DA, re-interprets Kant’s analyses of laughter and argues Kant regarded laughter as a reality-response in direct opposition to our perception of the sublime.
Kuplen recently joined Alfred University’s Division of Human Studies, in the College of Arts and Sciences. She received her PhD from Central European University, Budapest, and is the author of Beauty, Ugliness and the Free Play of Imagination: An Approach to Kant’s Aesthetics.
