The Women's and Gender Studies program at Alfred University recently announced publication of the 2020-21 edition of the Alphadelphian.
The Women's and Gender Studies program at Alfred University recently announced publication of the 2020-21 edition of the Alphadelphian, edited by Talulla Torthe, a junior South-African French international student with a major in Communication Studies and a Film Studies minor, and Dale Mott Slater, a junior with an individually structured major in Sustainability and Food Systems Journalism and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Family Business.
The Alphadelphian, the newsletter of Alfred University's Women’s and Gender Studies program, was created in 1986 as the Women's Studies senior project of Megan Allen. With each new editor the publication has taken on a slightly different style, giving more weight to certain issues and exploring new territories; however, the purpose remains the same, to feature projects, from research to art to self-discovery, in which members of the gender studies community at Alfred University are involved and invested.
The current issue includes notes from the editors and articles on Alfred University lectures and roundtables, the recently installed Abigail Allen plaque (part of the National Votes for Women Trail), and Chase Angier, Professor of Dance and recipient of the 2021 Abigail Allen Award.
