Environmental Speakers Series will feature hydrogeologist Sawyer McFadden

ALFRED, NY – Hydrogeologist Sawyer McFadden will present at next week’s Environmental Studies Speakers Series. The virtual presentation—titled “The Hyporheic Zone: A Stream’s Liver”—is scheduled for 12:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29.

The presenters in the Fall 2021 semester Environmental Studies Speakers Series have a connection to Alfred University or the Alfred area. McFadden is the son of Laurie Lounsberry Meehan ’91, archivist at Alfred University’s Herrick Memorial Library, and Mark McFadden, former director of the Career Development Center at Alfred University.

A recent graduate of Colorado School of Mines, McFadden is a hydrogeologist at ERM, a global consulting firm dedicated to promoting sustainability. He assists on remedial projects that leverage innovative methods, such as bioremediation, to improve different communities’ water-resources.
