Alfred University Associate Professor of Mathematics Amanda Taylor Lipnicki will deliver the Dec. 2 Bergren Forum, the last Forum of the Fall Semester. Lipnicki’s lecture, “Soft Calculus,” will illustrate how math, including calculus, can be applied to design crochet patterns. The talk will be framed for a general audience with no knowledge of calculus or crochet.

The Bergren Forum, sponsored by the Division of Human Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Science, is held at 12:10 p.m. each Thursday. It is being offered virtually via Zoom and will return to an in-person format once the university considers this sufficiently safe. The Zoom links can be obtained by e-mailing Marilyn Saxton.
