Jazz Ensemble to perform in Nevins Lounge Thursday

The Alfred University Jazz Ensemble will perform at 7:30 pm Thursday, Nov. 18 in the Nevins Lounge, outside the Alfred University Bookstore. Music selections will feature a range of authentic cafe-style jazz, including blues, jazz standards, all-time favorite melodies, and improvisation by the members of the Jazz Ensemble.

The audience is welcome to bring coffee, tea and sweets, or just come and relax with some great jazz music. Hot cocoa and cider will be provided.
The Jazz Ensemble is performing under the direction of Yoshiko Arahata, visiting assistant professor of music. A sought-after collaborative and chamber musician, Arahata’s solo engagements have taken her to stages throughout the U.S., Asia, and Europe and she has made concerto appearances with both traditional orchestras and contemporary ensembles featuring living composers Wolfgang Rihm, Steve Reich, and Aaron Jay Kernis.
