IDEA Lab for Social Justice & Cultural Diversity is a space for/with People of Color, sexually marginalized communities, and everyone who is interested in diversity and inclusive teaching/learning environment.

Spring Semester Programs

IDEA Lab Mentorship Program IDEA Lab is sponsoring a mentorship program to connect undergrads, grads, and faculty. All are welcome to apply as mentors or mentees (or both!) and receive feedback on their art practice, advice on artistic careers, and art critique with focuses like BIPOC and LGBTQ+ work. For every meeting $30 worth of snacks and refreshments will be offered. To apply, please fill out the Google Form.

IDEA Lab Exhibition: "What Does Identity Mean to You?" Student exhibition, critique and discussion Feb 15, 4-6 p.m. in the IDEA lab. There will be snacks. 

IDEA Lab Workshop with Cedric Mitchell "Color Representation Matters" Tuesday, February 22, 2-3 p.m.

Cedric Major Mitchell, Los Angeles based glass artist from Oklahoma who honed his skills while attending Tulsa Community College studying business. Learning about the glass art-form as an emerging local hip-hop artist while recording in the music studio, he immediately enrolled as an elective. As a student he quickly transitioned into an apprentice and instructor at The Tulsa Glassblowing School.

Inspired by an eccentric mix of Graffiti Art, Pop Culture, Mid-Century Modern and Memphis Design. Cedric creates work that ranges from functional to decorative art, combining simplicity in design with bold colors to craft hand-blown vessels with a purpose.
