Xu Yibao, MFA 2017 produces large kinetic installation for the China 2022 Winter Olympics

Xu Yibao '17 M.F.A. recently oversaw through White·Tech Media Lab a large kinetic installation in Chongli Hall for the China 2022 Winter Olympics. The installation uses slow mechanical movement, refined image, science, technology and art for the continued expression of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. View video.

Yibao was responsible for designing the whole project, creating the mechanics and writing the software. "In recent years," Yibao says, "I have been doing research on mechanical kinetics, using acrylic and white steel materials, laser cutting and motors."
