ALFRED, NY – According to a story last week in the Buffalo News, Alfred University was one of just two private institutions of high education in Western New York that did not lose money during the five years immediately preceding the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In its story published Sunday, March 20— titled “Most Buffalo area private colleges operated in the red even before Covid-19 hit”—the Buffalo News examined 11 colleges and universities in Western New York.
The story revealed that nine schools experienced operating deficits for at least two of the five years between 2015-16 and 2019-20; only Alfred University and St. Bonaventure did not sustain operating losses during the five-year period.
