A sculpture created by Coral Penelope Lambert, Alfred University professor of sculpture, will be featured on a medal commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the International Sculpture Center (ISC).

As a recent recipient of the lifetime ISC Outstanding Educator Award in Sculpture, Lambert’s sculpture "Sky Diamond" will be featured on the medal celebrating 60 years of the International Sculpture Center. The ISC has chosen the buckyball as the hallmark for the 60th Anniversary celebration to represent the interconnectedness of the sculpture community, the art world, and society at large. Lambert’s welded sculptures often reference geodesic structures such as the truncated icosahedron seen in buckyballs, diamonds and carbon hexagons.

The medals will be a custom designed six-sided disc six inches in diameter and will be cast in an edition of 60. Sculpture students will help cast the medals in wax at Alfred University's National Casting Center Foundry. The medals will then be molded on site and cast in iron and bronze during the ISC 60th Anniversary Event on April 30 at the Gardenship Art Center in Kearney, NJ. The medals will be both awarded and auctioned off as a fundraiser to support the next generation of sculptors.

The 60th Anniversary event is held on International Sculpture Day and will also celebrate student awards with an exhibition including the work of Alfred University alum Kirstin Willders, M.F.A. '20, who received the ISC Outstanding Student Achievement Award in 2020. Find out more about the ISC 60th Anniversary event.
