Artwork by Adero Willard, visiting assistant professor of ceramics in the Alfred University School of Art and Design, will be shown in an exhibition that opened Sept. 2 at Southeast Missouri State University.

Willard's work, along with that by artist Paul Andrew Wandless, make up an exhibition titled "Something to Say." Wandless is showing prints on clay and Willard is showing layered surfaces on clay vessels. The exhibition will be on view through Sept. 30, 2022.

According to the Gallery website:

"Adero Willard has exhibited her ceramics nationally and internationally. Willard states: 'A love of clay and a passion for color and pattern fuels my work as a ceramic artist and potter. My diverse ancestry has taken me on a journey of discovery that is intrinsically woven into an ornate visual language made of abstracted shapes, divided space, and layered patterns and colors. Through the clay form and surface, this language provides me with endless possibilities to express concepts of identity, history, materiality, and design. Working with clay is as much a desire to create as a commitment to nurturing a love of the arts and the handmade in myself and others.'”

Wandless teaches art at Harold Washington College, Chicago, IL. He has exhibited his art nationally and internationally and is an author of several books about ceramics.
