Seven former faculty members of the Division of Human Studies, in Alfred University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will be honored Thursday, Oct. 6 at 5:15 pm in Kanakadea Hall.

The occasion will celebrate the teaching careers of History Professors Gary Ostrower, Stuart Campbell, Vicki Eaklor, and Gary Horowitz; Philosophy Professors Bill Dibrell and John Gilmour, and Religious Studies Professor Tom Peterson. Three of the Human Studies faculty members – Ostrower, Gilmour, and Peterson – will be present for the event.

Human Studies Chairperson Emrys Westacott, who has organized the tribute, says each of the seven faculty members gave more than 30 years of service to Alfred University. “The combined service to the University adds up to 258 years,” Westacott said.

Photographs of the seven faculty members will be unveiled, hanging on a wall of Kanakadea Hall, following brief tributes given by current faculty members.

The University community is invited to attend the ceremony.
