Environmental Speakers Series will feature alumna Sallie Greenberg ’94

Alfred University alumna Sallie Greenberg ’94 will present at next week’s Environmental Studies Speakers Series. The presentation—titled “The Cycle of Matter: Your Roadmap for a Career in ENS”—is scheduled for 12:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in Roon Lecture Hall, Science Center, on the Alfred University campus.


ALFRED, NY – Alfred University alumna Sallie Greenberg ’94 will present at next week’s Environmental Studies Speakers Series. The presentation—titled “The Cycle of Matter: Your Roadmap for a Career in ENS”—is scheduled for 12:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in Roon Lecture Hall, Science Center, on the Alfred University campus.

Greenberg holds a Ph.D. in secondary and continuing education and a master’s degree in geology from the University of Illinois, and a bachelor’s degree in geology from Alfred University. A principal research scientist of Energy and Minerals at the Illinois State Geological Survey, University of Illinois, Greenburg acts as a strategic advisor for government and industry on energy transition. Over the last 20-plus years, she led the Illinois Basin – Decatur Project, a one million tons carbon storage project, to completion and has consulted or contributed to more than 30 energy and carbon capture and storage projects, especially in the areas of project development, risk reduction, and stakeholder engagement.

Greenberg specializes and consults in many areas including strategic development, government relations, energy policy, environmental and social justice, project review, and relationship building. She uses her advanced degrees in low temperature geochemistry and education to create strategies for change based on understanding public challenges related to balancing societal demands for energy with environmental concerns.
