Queer ART Collective hosting 5-K run on campus

Alfred University’s Queer ART Collective is organizing a 5-kilometer run on campus on Oct. 2.

Alfred University’s Queer ART Collective is organizing a 5-kilometer run on campus. The Oct. 2 event is being held in conjunction with a virtual race started by nonbinary runner Nikki Hitlz and will raise money for the Trevor Project, a non-profit organization which focuses on suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth.

The run will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. Sponsored student runners are directed to retrieve their bibs and t-shirts at the welcome table at 8:45 am. The 5-K can be completed by walking, running, cycling, or whatever means of mobility is accessible.

To sign up to participate in the 5-K, please visit Register for Pride 5K.

Organizers are asking for volunteers to sponsor participants by contributing the $35 registration fee. Funds raised through registration will be donated to the Trevor Project.

Students that need a sponsor can apply by visiting Student Application for Sponsor Form. Anyone who wishes to sponsor a student runner’s participation can visit Sponsor Sign Up for Pride 5k Form. Applications for sponsors/sponsorships closes on Saturday, Sept. 24.
