Alfred University alumnus will present in Environmental Speakers Series

Alfred University alumnus Andy Hoak ’93, a licensed professional engineer and geologist, will present at next week’s Environmental Studies Speakers Series.


ALFRED, NY – Alfred University alumnus Andy Hoak ’93, a licensed professional engineer and geologist, will present at next week’s Environmental Studies Speakers Series. The presentation—titled “Managing Sea Lamprey Migration in a Complex Geologic Setting”—is scheduled for 12:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, in Roon Lecture Hall, Science Center, on the Alfred University campus.

Hoak received his BA in geology and environmental studies from Alfred University in 1993 and went on to earn a master’s degree in hydrogeology from Clemson University in 1995.

He is director of the Environmental Services Division at DuBois & King, Inc., a multidisciplinary engineering firm with approximately 130 employees, with more than 28 years of experience in hydrogeologic consulting and environmental engineering including groundwater development studies, water resource evaluations, geophysical exploration, and aquifer analysis. Hoak has completed several dam removal projects for improved aquatic organism passage, conducted numerous streambank restoration and slope stability improvement projects, evaluated and designed groundwater remediation systems, supervised Brownfield redevelopment projects, and designed innovative stormwater management practices at residential, agricultural, and commercial developments.

Hoak resides in East Aurora, NY with his wife Daria (Glogoza) Hoak '94 (BFA) and their two children.
