Morgan Leibham, a first-year student at Alfred University, recently rehabilitated and beautified the veterans memorial located on campus as part of his Eagle Scout project.

Morgan, an Arkport, NY, resident who majors in environmental studies, began work on the memorial—located in front of Davis Memorial Carillon— in August, just prior to the start of the 2022-23 academic year. He sanded and refinished a wooden bench, landscaped the area with new shrubs, installed a new flagpole, and power washed a brick retaining wall.

A member of Boy Scout Troop 16 in Arkport, Morgan is the son of Amanda McMahan, administrative aide for Timothy Heckman, assistant director, Capital Projects and Facility Operations. His project was completed in time to be showcased during ceremonies observing Veterans Day on campus, Nov. 11.
