Bergren Forum going to the dogs

Professors Susan Morehouse and Lynn O'Connell to discuss therapy dogs on campus; Jam and Blue to help out

Alfred University’s Bergren Forum goes to the dogs next week, Oct. 27, when Professor English Susan Morehouse and Professor of School Psychology Lynn O’Connell discuss the role of therapy dogs on college campuses. Morehouse and O’Connell will accompanied by their own dogs, Jam and Blue.

What exactly is a therapy dog? What are the legal issues underpinning the use of therapy dogs in a campus environment? What kinds of training are required for a dog to be considered and certified as a therapy dog? These and other questions will be addressed in Morehouse and O’Connell’s join Bergren Forum

The Bergren Forum is sponsored by the Division of Human Studies and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and will be held in-person from 12:10-1 pm on Thursdays in Nevins Theatre, Powell Campus Center. Attendees are invited to bring a brown bag lunch. Coffee and tea will be provided. For those not able to make it to Nevins, there is a Zoom link, which will be the same each week. Please contact Marilyn Saxton for the Zoom information.
