Math Professor Amanda Lipnicki to present Oct. 27 Bergren Forum

Focus on “Math, Art, and Culture in Finland and Iceland.”

Alfred University Associate Professor of Mathematics Amanda Taylor Lipnicki will deliver the Nov. 2 Bergren Forum, “Math, Art, and Culture in Finland and Iceland.”

Lipnicki will discuss her experiences at the Bridges conference in Helsinki in August 2022, as well as a few tidbits from a stopover in Iceland. Bridges is an organization fostering connections between mathematics, science, technology, and art.  Each year, the organization hosts an international conference featuring talks about peer reviewed publications from the intersection of these fields as well as an art show in the same spirit.

The Bergren Forum is sponsored by the Division of Human Studies and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and will be held in-person from 12:10- 1:00 p.m. on Thursdays in Nevins Theatre, Powell Campus Center. Attendees are invited to bring a brown bag lunch. Coffee and tea will be provided. For those not able to make it to Nevins, there is a Zoom link, which will be the same each week. Please contact Marilyn Saxton for the Zoom information.
