Professor of Sculpture to lead tour of William Underhill's sculpture at ACAM

Coral Lambert, Professor of Sculpture at Alfred University, will conduct a tour of the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum’s exhibition “William Underhill: Casting a Legacy” at 6 pm Oct. 20. at the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum. Following the tour, she will take questions.

Underhill was a professor of sculpture at Alfred University from 1969 to 1997 and the creator of the University’s King Alfred statue. A renowned sculptor of vessel forms, many currently on display in the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum, Underhill also was the recipient of grants from the Tiffany Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the New York State Council for the Arts.

His work is held in numerous permanent collections including the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh, PA; the Oakland Art Museum, in Oakland, CA; the Museum of Arts and Design, in New York City; the Racine Art Museum, Racine WI; the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York City; and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA.
