Alfred University alumna will present in Environmental Speakers Series

Alfred University alumna Mari McNinch ’07, a soil conservationist, will present at Friday’s Environmental Studies Speakers Series. The presentation—titled “What Are Soil Conservation Districts, and What Do They Do?”—is scheduled for 12:20 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in Roon Lecture Hall, Science Center, on the Alfred University campus.

McNinch received his BA in environmental studies from Alfred University in 2007 and is a soil conservationist, Cecil Soil Conservation District, Elkton, MD. The mission of the Cecil Soil Conservation District is to provide the community with information, education and technical assistance in conserving the county's natural resources.

McNinch said her interest in the natural environment was fostered by yearly family camping trips and was further ignited by participation in the Envirothon program coordinated by her local Soil Conservation District.
