Alumna Kara Mackey, co-founder of Barrelhouse 6 Distillery, featured on Discovery Channel
Alfred University alumna Kara Mackey ’88, co-founder of Barrelhouse 6 Distillery, in Hammondsport, NY, recently was featured on Discovery Channel’s “Moonshiners-Master Distiller” series, competing against two other artisanal distillers in making batches of savory spirits.
Mackey filmed the episode in Tennessee in late August. “It was an amazing experience,” she recalls. “I got to meet people from all walks of life who were true artisans and craftsmen in the art of making distilled spirits.”
The episode in which Mackey appears, “Finger-Lickin’ Shine,” can be watched through streaming services including FuboTV, Youtube, and Discovery’s own service.
Mackey co-founded Barrelhouse 6 Distillery in 2017 with Alfred University alumnus Joe Sorrentino ’83.
