A chandelier Em Sexsmith ’25 made for her B.F.A. senior show was selected as a finalist for the Stanislav Libenský Award, a prestigious international glass art competition for emerging artists.

The Stanislav Libenský Award is organized by the Prague Gallery of Czech Glass, Prague, Czech Republic. The competition is open to young artists worldwide, graduates of bachelor's or master's degrees who used glass in their final work.

The Libenský Award, often referred to as the “Oscar for young glassmakers,” is entering its 16th year, confirming Prague's role as a global laboratory for glass innovation. The award is open to graduates of glass schools worldwide. Its long-standing reputation is built on helping young artists cross the boundaries of their studios and enter the world stage. The winner receives a prestigious scholarship to the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA, one of the most vital centers of glass innovation in the world.

Sexsmith was among 55 finalists from 17 countries chosen by an expert jury. While she did not place in the top three, she was one of the only American artists recognized and was invited to join the awards ceremony, which was held Dec. 1 at the Clam-Gallas Palace in Prague.
