Representing Alfred University were: Foundations Director Trevor Bennett ’12 and clinical faculty members Zihao Chen ’23 and Augustine Uzor.

The conference presented a re-examination of “the established structures and assumptions that form our current understanding of what a foundational education in the arts is supposed to be,” according to the conference website. Areas examined included teaching tools in a pandemic and post-pandemic environment and building “supportive, inquisitive, and inclusive educational environments.”

Participants such as the Alfred University SOAD contingent were able to review and consider tools students will need to build sustainable art practices in a rapidly changing world.
