Pair of special events highlight January Alfred Art Walk

Stroll through Alfred, NY, Thursday, Jan. 17, during the Alfred Art Walk and view exhibitions in galleries and venues throughout the village as well as in the nearby communities of Alfred Station and Wellsville.
ALFRED, NY – Stroll through Alfred, NY, Thursday, Jan. 17, during the Alfred Art Walk and view exhibitions in galleries and venues throughout the village as well as in the nearby communities of Alfred Station and Wellsville.
Alfred Art Walk, which is free and open to the public, is held the third Thursday of each month. The January Art Walk, held from 5-8 p.m., will feature a pair of special events: a hands-on activity at the Cohen Gallery on Main Street; and an exhibition of work by students from Alfred-Almond Central School.
Participating venues this month include:
Cohen Gallery, Alfred University, 55 N. Main Street. A special event, “Come Get Your Hands Dirty,” invites the public to participate in hands-on activity. Attendees will create their own house number plaque from terra cotta. Clay for the event, which is free and open to the public, is being donated by Tufty Ceramics.
The Rosebush restaurant, 11 N. Main Street, Alfred. Artwork created by students in Amy Powers' advanced ceramics class at Alfred-Almond Central School will be on display in the restaurant. Powers earned a B.F.A. degree from Alfred University in 2000.
Gallery 2 Gifts of Distinction, 43 N. Main Street, Alfred.
Terra Cotta Coffee House, 34 North Main Street, Alfred. “Craig Prophet: In Studio and on the Road,” featuring work by the husband of Becky Prophet, Alfred Mayor and Alfred University professor of theater. Exhibition runs through Feb. 1, 2019.
