Alfred University alumna Julie Moon was one of five women featured in a recent Toronto Star story on female ceramic artists.

The story – headlined “Five Canadian women ceramic artists and their passion for clay” – appeared in the Saturday, March 23, issue of the Star.

The story stems from a program at Toronto’s Gardiner Museum to raise awareness about inequalities in the art world. Last March during Women’s History Month, the Gardiner Museum published a post on their website highlighting five women ceramic artists in their collection. This year, the Museum, which focuses on ceramics, has been putting the spotlight on a women ceramic artists from their collection every Friday for the month of March.

One of the women featured this year is Moon, a Toronto-based artist who earned an M.F.A. degree from Alfred University in 2010. Before attending Alfred University, Moon earned an art degree from Ontario College of Art and design in 2005. She has participated in numerous residencies and exhibitions in Canada and the United States and has a studio in Toronto.
