Meghen Jones, assistant professor of art history and director of Global Studies at Alfred University, will give a presentation titled “From Montelupo Fiorentino to Meissen: Notes on Local/Global Ceramics Cultural Heritage and State Patronage in Europe Today” at the Sept. 19 Bergren Forum at Alfred University.


ALFRED, NY – Meghen Jones, assistant professor of art history and director of Global Studies at Alfred University, will give a presentation titled “From Montelupo Fiorentino to Meissen: Notes on Local/Global Ceramics Cultural Heritage and State Patronage in Europe Today” at the Sept. 19 Bergren Forum at Alfred University.

The Bergren Forum, sponsored by the Division of Human Studies, is held at 12:10 p.m. each Thursday the University is in session in Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center.  It is open to the public and free of charge. Attendees may bring their lunches; coffee and tea are provided.

Jones will discuss how cultural heritage of ceramics defined is defined in the twenty-first century, and the local and global issues that are at stake in government support of ceramics production and preservation. Using comparative case studies, Jones will share observations from her recent International Fellowship for Faculty Development-funded research in Italy, France, and Germany.
