MFA candidate Jamie Rose to stream prayer performance on International Sculpture Day

The many on-line activities organized for this year’s International Sculpture Day, April 25, will include a live-stream performance by Jamie Marie Rose, a 2020 candidate for the Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture at Alfred University.


The many on-line activities organized for this year’s International Sculpture Day, April 25, will include a live-stream performance by Jamie Marie Rose, a 2020 candidate for the Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture at Alfred University.

Rose will be praying from a 100-decade rosary made of glass which she has handcrafted, saying 1,207 prayers in total. The prayer is estimated to take 15 hours and will be performed from her own home in Alfred while she remains in isolation. The performance will address “the current state of turmoil and how we must persevere.”

International Sculpture Day, or IS Day, is a worldwide annual celebration of sculpture on the last Saturday of April every year. It was established by the International Sculpture Center and is meant to raise awareness, appreciation and enjoyment of sculpture in communities across the globe.
