ROCHESTER, NY — Alfred University alumnus Robert Cain ’10 was named by Rochester Business Journal as a 2020 Forty Under 40 honoree. Cain, who earned a bachelor’s degree in communications studies from Alfred University in 2010, is a senior real estate developer for PathStone Development Corp. in Rochester.

Cain joins Gabrielle Gaustad, dean of the Inamori School of Engineering, as 2020 Forty Under 40 honorees with Alfred University connections.

Forty Under 40 recognizes 40 men and women, under the age of 40, who have achieved professional success and who have made significant civic contributions to the community. A panel of judges consisting of previous winners from various professions selected the Forty Under 40 honorees. In choosing the winners, judges looked for candidates who excel professionally and who are actively involved in and give back to the community.

“The Forty Under 40 honorees are not only achieving success in their careers but giving back in meaningful ways to the Rochester community,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, group publisher of the Rochester Business Journal. “It can be difficult for successful individuals in demanding careers to find time to give back to our community, but our Forty Under 40 honorees are doing just that. The Rochester Business Journal is pleased to recognize their achievements.”

PathStone Development Corp. is a not-for-profit community development and human services organization dedicated to eliminating poverty and strengthening families and individuals since 1969. Low-income families and economically distressed communities throughout New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, Vermont, and Puerto Rico are the primary beneficiaries of PathStone’s services and resources.

Cain has been with PathStone for 11 years, serving the agency as a program coordinator, program administrator, real estate developer, and, since 2019, as senior real estate developer. In 2018, he was recognized for being PathStone’s lead developer for the Eastman Reserve, the first-ever mixed-use residential community within Eastman Business Park in Rochester. Eastman Reserve, with nearly 200 mixed-income single-family and multi-family rental units, was recently presented by Novogradac & Company LLP with the 2020 Development of Distinction Award for Metropolitan Community Impact.
