Pumpkin creations show Alfred’s Halloween spirit is alive and well

Alfred University’s annual pumpkin carving and decorating contest was held Thursday evening along Main Street in the Village of Alfred. The event is a collaboration between Alfred Art Walk and the University’s Student Activities board.


ALFRED, NY—Alfred University’s annual pumpkin carving and decorating contest was held Thursday evening along Main Street in the Village of Alfred. The event is a collaboration between Alfred Art Walk and the University’s Student Activities board.

First-year student Bree Borgosz took home first-place honors in the event with a pumpkin that also won the prize for most creative and scariest.

Additional winners in categories and overall rankings include:

· Best dressed and third place: Natalia Norris 

· ‘Made the Cut’ and second place: Rosie Gregg 

· Best community pumpkin: Cecilia Sherwood 

· Funniest Pumpkin: Anna Gwozdz and Emily Sinatra
