ALFRED, NY – Alfred University alumnus Tom Reed ’93, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, will participate in a virtual town hall discussion on Thursday, Feb. 4.

The online discussion, which will be held via Zoom, will begin at 5:15 p.m. and is expected to last approximately one hour. Depending on the size of the audience, those who attend can ask Reed questions using the Zoom audio or chat functions.

The event will not focus on any specific topics, said Gary Ostrower, professor of history, who organized the event. “The discussion is wide open,” he said.

A link to the Zoom meeting will be emailed to Alfred University students, faculty, and staff, as well as alumni, in the next few days.

Reed, a Republican representing New York’s 23rd Congressional district, was elected to Congress in 2010. He currently serves on the House Ways and Means committee as the Republican Leader of the Social Security Subcommittee. He earned a B.S. degree in political science from Alfred University in 1993.
