JoAnn Schnabel (BFA '81) Retrospective Exhibition at UNI

JoAnn Schnabel, BFA '81 retires after 31 years of teaching at University of Northern Iowa with Retrospective Exhibition entitled JoAnn Schnabel & UNI Ceramic Alumni 1990-2021 along with former students including Alfred University Associate Professor of Ceramics Matt Kelleher.

 


JoAnn Schnabel, BFA '81 retires after 31 years of teaching at University of Northern Iowa with Retrospective Exhibition along with former students including Alfred University Associate Professor of Ceramics Matt Kelleher.

JoAnn Schnabel, BFA '81, is retiring after 31 years of teaching ceramics at the University of Northern Iowa. To mark the occasion, JoAnn has a retrospective of her work along side many of her past students at the UNI Gallery of Art. Included in the exhibition is Alfred University Associate Professor, Matt Kelleher, who started his college education in ceramics under JoAnn from 1991-93. 

Schnabel was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and received her bachelor of fine arts degree in ceramics from New York State College of Ceramics, Alfred University in 1981 and her master’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1986. She has participated in artist residencies at the International Ceramic Studio, Kecskemét, Hungary, Banff Centre for the Arts, Banff, Canada, Archie Bray Foundation, Helena, Montana, Robert M. MacNamara Foundation, Maine, CRETA Rome, Italy, and at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in New Castle, Maine. Full article
