On-campus housing: Dormitory style housing is available without linens or air conditioning:
- $95 per week - double
- $190 per week - single
Each participant will required to bring or purchase their own linens and bathroom cleaning supplies. Dormitory lodging with private bathrooms are not cleaned by custodial staff (Ann's House, Joel's House and Ford Street Apartments, as to not invade you and your neighbor's privacy. We suggest you bring your own cleaning supplies. In these same buildings, while you may have purchased a single room, you will/may be sharing a bathroom with your neighbor. Your neighbor will only have shared access to the shared bathroom). The dormitory beds are XL twin size. You need to bring your own bath towels, hand towels, etc. Free laundry is available.
The dormitory buildings have 1 shared kitchen on the 1st floor. No fridge is provided in your living space. You may bring/purchase your own mini fridge for your space.
Off-campus housing: If you choose to stay off-campus, it is still possible to enroll in our meal plan options and participate in all day/night activities taking place during your workshop.

Optional meal plans through campus dining services are available, pricing for summer 2027 coming soon:
- 4 Week Meal Plan: (includes 26 breakfasts, 26 lunches and 26 dinners)
- 2 Week Meal Plan: (includes 12 breakfasts, 12 lunches, and 12 dinners)
- 1 Week Meal Plan: (includes 5 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 5 dinners)
Meals take place in Powell Campus Center. Food for a la carte purchase will also be available at Saxon Cafe located in Powell Campus Center.
Limited dining options are available within walking distance of campus.
Food Availability
The closest major grocery store is Wegmans located in Hornell, NY (11 miles from campus). Instacart services are available in the area.
There are several local food stores here in the village. We also have weekly food plans available for purchase on the registration page.
Travel
Arrival
Alfred University is 81 miles from Rochester and 90 miles from Buffalo. The most convenient way to get to Alfred is by car, however Alfred will also offer a shuttle service to and from Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport only which will be available for each session for a fee of $50 one way or $100 round trip. Please contact us for more information on the shuttle service and times.

Processing Fee and Deposits
When registering for a workshop, you will be charged the following:
- Course tuition
- Processing and handling
- Course materials fee
You may make additional selections such as housing and meal plans, which will be charged at the time of registration.
Registration Fees and Deadline
Online registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis and continues until workshops are filled. There is a $50 processing fee for all participants.
Discounts
We offer tuition discounts to local residents within 50 miles of Alfred, K-12 teachers and AU Alumni. For more information and discount codes, please contact [email protected], Special Programs Coordinator for the Arts.
- K-12 teachers: 50% tuition discount
- Alfred University Alumni: 25% tuition discount
- Local Residents: 25% tuition discount
- AU Faculty+Staff: 25% tuition discount (for 1 or 2 -week workshop)
- AU Faculty+Staff: 50% tuition discount (for 3 or 4 -week workshop)
Refunds and Cancellations
You may cancel anytime up to 60 days prior to the beginning of a workshop and receive a refund minus the $50 non-refundable processing fee and a cancellation fee of $200.
If you cancel less than 60 days prior to the beginning of the workshop, refunds are not available due to deadlines for material acquisitions and artist travel agreements.
If it is necessary for Alfred to cancel a workshop for any reason, participants will be notified and offered an alternative class or a full refund. We are not able to offer reimbursement for non-refundable travel expenses.
Cost of Materials/Studio Fees
Course tuition does not include the cost of materials needed for the workshops. Some workshops will require participants to bring certain materials and most of the workshops will have a materials fee. This fee will vary depending on the materials needed for each workshop. Materials fees also support the maintenance and upkeep of our studio facilities.
Waiting Lists
If the workshop you wish to register for is full, we invite you to place your name on our waiting list. If a space in the workshop becomes available, we will contact applicants in order, by the date received. You are not required to place a deposit in order to be placed on the waiting list.
Continuing Teaching and Leader Education (CTLE) Credit
Alfred University is an NYSED approved CTLE sponsor (#1782). CTLE clock hours for sessions are currently under review and will be announced prior to the start of your workshop, pending instructional approval.
