Hunt Seat Prospect Program with Coach Theresa Lounsberry 

Want to take your Hunt Seat riding to a collegiate level and compete in IHSA shows? This program, led by Coach Theresa Lounsberry, offers you the chance to work with one of the top coaches in the field and refine the skills you need to excel in collegiate Hunt Seat competitions. 

Program Highlights 

• Expert Hunt Seat Coaching: Coach Theresa Lounsberry has years of experience developing top-level riders for IHSA success. She’ll provide you with focused, individual attention to help improve your equitation, build confidence, and refine your riding over fences and on the flat.
• IHSA-Style Training: Designed for students wanting to compete in the Hunt Seat discipline, this program will immerse you in the skills needed for success in IHSA-style shows, from Equitation on the Flat to Equitation over Fences.
• Focus on Equitation: Whether you're a novice or advanced rider, you’ll benefit from targeted lessons that focus on form, balance, and connection with the horse. Learn to execute perfect transitions, maintain your position, and perform at your best in front of judges.
• Competition Preparation: Get insider tips and tricks for IHSA competition, including how to navigate different classes, what judges expect from Hunt Seat riders, and how to perform under pressure. We’ll also teach you how to handle horse assignments on show day.
• Team-Oriented Experience: In this program, you’ll experience what it’s like to be part of an IHSA team. Learn to work as a team member, share knowledge, and support each other as you prepare for collegiate-level competition.
• Engaging and Educational: Alongside riding time, enjoy educational sessions that cover everything from show ring strategy to career tips for succeeding in IHSA competition at the college level.

This program is ideal for high school students or rising college freshmen who want to pursue a collegiate career in IHSA Hunt Seat competition. Whether you’re just getting started or have some experience, Coach Theresa will help you get ready for success in the IHSA ring. 

Tuition, Meals & Housing

Program Cost: $1,500

Program Deposit: $100

This pricing includes tuition, materials, meals, and housing. All housing and meals will take place here on Alfred University’s campus.

We are pleased to offer a $100 discount off tuition for students whose primary residence is within a fifty-mile radius of Alfred, New York, as well as for children of Alfred University Alumni and returning students from any Pre-College Program at Alfred University.
