Awards/Honors

Dr. Atlas has been the recipient of four Awards for Teaching Excellence at Alfred University. He has developed a scale to measure sensitivity to criticism and has published research on responses to criticism, the effects of rejection, and on explanatory styles. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Eastern Psychological Association, and the Midwestern Psychological Association and has presented more than a dozen papers at their professional meetings. In 1995, he authored the Instructor's manual for the textbook Abnormal Psychology by T.E.Oltmanns and R.E.Emery, and he is currently working on a new edition of that manual.
For two years Dr. Atlas worked as a psychotherapist in the Binghamton, NY area. His contributions to the University include serving on the Promotion and Tenure Committee of the College of Liberal Arts & Science and the University’s Faculty Senate.
