Biography

Amy has been a member of the Alfred University community since 1997. As Director of Gift Planning, she says "it’s a privilege to meet with people who share my love of Alfred, and who share wonderful memories of their Alfred experience." "I enjoy using my expertise to help donors bring their vision to fruition. It’s about working together, in support of Alfred’s mission."

Amy previously served as director of Alfred University’s Judson Leadership Center (JLC). She has taught courses in various fields at the University. Prior to her appointment as director of the JLC in 2005, Jacobson was a practicing lawyer for 10 years, most recently as a supervising attorney for Southern Tier Legal Services.

Amy received a bachelor of arts degree in political science, cum laude, from Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA. She subsequently earned a juris doctorate from the New York University School of Law and is a member of the New York, Pennsylvania, and federal bars.

Amy, husband Dr. Allen Grove, professor of English at Alfred, and their children Nathan and Abby, reside in Alfred where she has been active on the Board of Directors of the Alfred Montessori School, the Village of Alfred Housing Task Force, the Allegany County Youth Board, and the Village of Alfred Zoning Board of Appeals. She currently serves as a Director of the newly-established Allegany-Cattaraugus-Chautauqua Fund for Women which provides financial assistance for women seeking to improve their lives.
